Billy, Whoopi, Mario and Dame Edna could find themselves competing against each other for 2005 Tony Awards.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee, which met Thursday, decided the following Broadway shows will be eligible for nomination in the “special theatrical event” category: Billy Crystal’s “700 Sundays”; “Laugh Whore” starring Mario Cantone; “Dame Edna: Back With a Vengeance!”; “The Good Body,” Eve Ensler’s one-woman show; “Whoopi, The 20th Anniversary Show,” featuring Whoopi Goldberg; and “Forever Tango,” a dance and music revue.

The committee, composed of prominent members of the theatrical and philanthropic communities, also decided that “Reckless” and “Twelve Angry Men,” would be eligible in the play-revival category even though neither has been done before on Broadway. Each has had productions elsewhere.

The administration committee will meet two more times before the Tony nominations are announced the week of May 9. Winners of the 2005 Tony Awards will be announced June 5 during a three-hour ceremony from Radio City Music Hall.
