A month and a half after a fall from a four-story apartment building left Sam Poueu struggling to survive in an intensive care unit, the former “Biggest Loser” contestant has moved on to a rehabilitation center to continue his recovery process.
“Loser” fans may best remember Poueu for his stint on the ninth season of the show alongside his cousin, Koli Palu, and for his return during a special episode of the series wherein he proposed to fellow competitor Stephanie Anderson. Anderson recently joined Poueu’s family to issue an update about his condition to People.
"He is undergoing an intense rehabilitation schedule,” they explained. “His recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. He has been blessed with a wonderful medical team."
For fans hoping for even more evidence of improvements for the “Loser” alum, Poueu put together a brief statement for People.
"Words can't express how grateful I am for all the love, support and prayers I've received in the past six weeks, all of which have been instrumental in my healing and recovery process, and in keeping my spirits up,” he said.
The Poueu and Anderson families have set up a trust fund to assist with the reality TV star’s recovery. Details can be found on their Facebook page.
