Brad Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and Sean Penn’s “Milk” lead contenders for the Critics’ Choice Awards with eight nominations each, including best picture and actor.

The other best-picture nominees Tuesday: “Changeling,” “The Dark Knight,” “Doubt,” “Frost/Nixon,” “The Reader,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “WALL-E” and “The Wrestler.”

Along with Pitt and Penn, best-actor nominees are Clint Eastwood, “Gran Torino”; Richard Jenkins, “The Visitor”; Frank Langella, “Frost/Nixon”; and Mickey Rourke, “The Wrestler.”

Nominated for best actress are Kate Beckinsale, “Nothing But the Truth”; Cate Blanchett, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”; Anne Hathaway, “Rachel Getting Married”; Angelina Jolie, “Changeling”; Melissa Leo, “Frozen River”; and Meryl Streep, “Doubt.”

Nominees are chosen by the Broadcast Film Critics Association. The awards will be presented Jan. 8.
