After inspiring threats of physical violence and accusations of poor taste, actor Alec Baldwin is eager to put his bridal blunder behind him. On Wednesday, the actor issued an apology for joking that he might expand his family by “getting a Filipino mail-order bride ... or a Russian one” during an appearance on “The Late Show.”
“I’d like to offer an apology and a clarification to remarks I made recently,” the “30 Rock” star posted to his Huffington Post blog. “While on the David Letterman program, I joked that I might need a ‘mail-order bride’ to achieve the goal of having more children in my life. I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such. (A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancing age.) However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense.”
Though he insisted no ill-will was intended, Baldwin claimed he understood why some, including Philippine Senator Ramon Revilla, took such extreme exception to his humor given certain “significant problems” in the Philippines.
“The comments of some Philippine government officials come as no surprise to me, either,” Baldwin wrote. “Even the one by a former action film star-turned-Senator who beckoned me to come to the Philippines so he could ‘beat’ me over my comment. Such anger and frustration about the issue of sex trafficking is understandable.”
Pete Wentz claims gossip site put his son at risk Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz blogged his rage at gossip site Gawker.com earlier this week. Wentz claimed he feared for his 6-month-old son’s safety after his family’s exact whereabouts were posted online.
“May 19 @ 2:15pm Just spotted Ashlee (Simpson), Pete and Bronx Mowgli entering Central Park at 64th and 5th, conveniently blocking the bus lane with their gigantic SUV,” the offending Gawker entry read.
A concerned Wentz fired back at the site.

“You disgust me,” he wrote.” “It doesn’t really bug me that I get called a short, talentless, annoying, fugly douchebag on the internet. Sometimes its even funny. But i dont want a GPS on my kid. Wentz warned that the detailed information Gawker makes available could one day be the cause of a lot more than an angry reaction.
“I doubt what you are doing is illegal,” he continued. “But it surely is unethical. I wonder what you’ll say the day someone gets hurt in ‘real life’ (you know that place next to your keyboard) based on your minute by minute ‘galker (sic) stalker’ sightings.”
