Damon Gough, the singer-songwriter better known as Badly Drawn Boy, had an onstage meltdown at L.A. club the Troubadour on Thursday night.
According to witnesses, Gough stopped the show four songs in after having issues with the sound. He proceeded to tell the crowd that he was "ready to fight," then directed the C-word at unspecified members of the audience.
To no one's surprise, the crowd didn't exactly respond in kind — one heckler reportedly yelled out, "You're not a Beatle!" — and a war of words ensued, during which Gough insulted all in attendance.
After a brief time-out, he returned to finish his set, and later apologized, blaming the outburst on road fatigue.
"This is a f------ disaster," he continued while lighting a cigarette on stage. "I just want the world to swallow me up."
The room began thinning out soon after the freak-out, which was played out in real time on Twitter.
One repeated description: that Gough was "whining" about the venue, which has seen legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles and Elton John take its stage. He ended the night with a cover of Madonna's "Like A Virgin."
The British Gough gained mainstream popularity in 2002 when he scored the soundtrack to the film "About A Boy," which starred Hugh Grant and was based on a Nick Hornby novel.
