‘Bad Day’ singer Daniel Powter plans U.S. tour

‘Idol’ exit theme writer and singer to travel the States this summer

Canadian singer/songwriter Daniel Powter, the voice behind the “American Idol” exit theme “Bad Day,” will begin a U.S. club tour in Philadelphia on July 17. The tour wraps Aug. 4-5 in Los Angeles.

The trek will promote Powter's 2005 self-titled Warner Bros. debut, which bowed at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 300,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Lead single “Bad Day” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five straight weeks. Powter performed the tune on the show's season finale last week.
