Clear Channel Music Group, suffering from a slump in the concert business as fans rebel against forking out hefty sums for nosebleed seats, is teaming with the Backstreet Boys and AOL Music to offer two-for-one tickets for the group’s summer amphitheater tour.
Beginning June 10, fans who visit AOL CityGuide and buy two reserved seats for the summer dates will get two free lawn or mezzanine seats to the same show. No facility fees or ticket surcharges will be applied to the free tickets.
The tour begins July 22 at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla., and runs through Sept. 2 at the Clark County Amphitheatre in Portland, Ore. The ticket offer applies only to the tour’s Clear Channel venues and runs through June 24.
The announcement comes a week after Clear Channel debuted its new lawn seating pricing plan, and started allowing lawn patrons to bring food, blankets and chairs into amphitheaters again.
The Backstreet Boys’ first studio album in five years, “Never Gone,” is due June 14 via Jive. The quintet is expected to launch a stadium tour next year.
