While it’s hard for any animal lover to cope with the loss of a four-legged companion and let go when the time comes, for one pet owner featured on Wednesday night’s “Confessions: Animal Hoarding,” the time for letting go never came around, despite the loss of several feline friends.

Lisa, who shared her home with 22 (living) cats when the episode opened, admitted that she just couldn’t say “goodbye” to the dearly departed.

“I have a few kittens in the freezer that had passed away,” Lisa explained as she led the cameras to her fridge.

“The reason they’re still there is because putting them in the ground means they’re gone for good," she said. "That’s my final goodbye and that’s hard for me.”

Thankfully, by the time the episode closed, Lisa learned to say goodbye — not just to her deceased pets, but to some of the less-than-healthy ones who were in serious need of a new home.
