Don't mess with Amy Adams, particularly when she has a mean craving for a swig of almond milk.

The Fighter star, who proves to be every bit the tough girl in the award-buzzed boxing flick, hit the cover of Parade to talk about life as a new mom, her post-baby body and the moment she knew she was pregnant, among other things.

The pregnancy epiphany occurred one morning at the refrigerator, just after she'd finished filming the flick starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.

"I saw almond milk in the fridge--Darren drinks it, but I'd never tasted it--and it triggered an animal response," Adams told the mag. "I was like, 'I need that,' and I drank the entire carton in 10 minutes. I looked at Darren and said, 'I think...yeah, I'm pregnant.'"

Adams, 36, who welcomed daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo May 15 with her fianc Darren Le Gallo, said she wasn't particularly concerned about dropping the baby weight immediately following her delivery, however.

"Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body--meaning that it wasn't put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit," Adams said. "I've been working out when I can, and I'm trying to eat in a healthful way, but losing weight is not my number-one priority. It's part of my job to return to some semblance of what I was before. But I don't feel I've ever made my career on my rockin' bod."

Meanwhile, Adams is prepping for her daughter's first holiday season with her family's traditional Banana Ice dessert and a few new traditions of her own.

"Just little things, like a certain candy in a certain dish," she says. "I find that it's the simple things that remind you of family around the holidays."

What Adams is not planning just yet is her wedding to Le Gallo, however. The wedding is still on, Adams said, but she's still trying to wrap her mind around the whole nuptial-planning process.
