Fans of "30 Rock" and Alec Baldwin, don't despair: The actor, who played network executive Jack Donaghy on the NBC series during its entire 7-season run, may just be coming back to the small screen.

That said, it'll be a very different kind of role. According to a report that intially surfaced on Mediate, Baldwin is in talks with MSNBC to host a prime-time talk show that would air in the 10 p.m. hour.

An MSNBC source told TODAY.com, "We're fans of Alec but we don't have anything to say regarding the unconfirmed reports."

As "30 Rock" neared its end, Universal Television signed Baldwin to a two-year overall deal at the end of 2012. The politically minded actor has been a source of speculation for several non-acting roles since, says Deadline, including the 1:35 a.m. half hour on the network taken up by "Last Call with Carson Daly." (That didn't pan out; "Last Call" was renewed.)

Despite not currently being on a series, Baldwin is keeping busy: He appears in Woody Allen's new film "Blue Jasmine" and hosts his own weekly podcast, "Here's The Thing." He's also got the record for hosting "Saturday Night Live," with 16 appearances (Steve Martin is in a close second, with 15).
