A new season of "The Voice" kicks off soon with a new pair of coaches. But if any faithful fans are worried that the addition of Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams might mean that old-timers Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will band together against the newbies — rather than aim their usual barbs at each other — fear not.
During a Friday visit to TODAY, Levine made it clear that bashing Shelton is definitely on his season to-do list.
"Blake's a terrible person, like, down to his core," the Maroon 5 rocker deadpanned when Willie Geist asked how things are between the two of them. "I don't really take him seriously as a human being. … I can't think of one thing that I like about him. It's really hard."
Finally, Levine hedged, "He's kind of funny?"
But that uncertain statement was undercut by his follow-up: "I'm not sure if that's lack of IQ or just sheer stupidity."
Levine better watch out. The last time he commented on Shelton's "stupidity," their mock rivalry reached new heights — or maybe lows.
Shelton soon made good on that threat, which led Levine to get revenge in the form of manure madness.
So this season? Watch out.
But before the guys get back to bashing on Monday night's season premiere (8 p.m. on NBC), check out the softer side of Levine. Here he is playing with puppies in our Orange Room last November.
