Aubrey Wolters Akerill, one of the young moms featured on the second season of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant,” was arrested for shoplifting and drug possession last year — with her baby by her side.
While the arrest occurred in May of 2010, the police report was only recently acquired by Star magazine. A copy of the report made available on Radar Online, reveals that Akerill and a friend were busted for shoplifting at a Walmart in Prescott, Az.
But the $29.66 of cosmetics that the pair allegedly swiped wasn’t the biggest trouble the teen mom faced, as police also found the ADHD drug Methylin and painkiller Oxycontin in her possession without prescriptions. She told the police that the pills were for her husband and grandmother, respectively.
“I called Akerill’s husband, Brandon, and he said the Methylin was his, and he had a valid prescription for it,” an officer wrote in the report. “He said he did not know Akerill had the pill and did not know why she had it. He said he believed the Oxycontin was her grandmother’s, and he did not know why Akerill had it, either. (Brandon) took custody of their (then) 3-month old son because Akerill was transported to juvenile detention.”
Both Akerill and her friend were issued trespass warnings and banned from the Walmart. The report also reveals that Akerill later completed a diversion program, and the remainder of her case is now considered complete.
The now-18-year-old can be seen in this bonus clip from "16 and Pregnant":
Akerill is far from the only “16 and Pregnant” star to land in trouble with the law. Several of the show's teen dads have served time for various offenses and one grandmother recently joined their ranks after being arrested for drug possession.
