Wanna play? Yes, they're making another Chucky movie

Chucky's almost 25 years old, but the murderous little doll doesn't look a day over eight. Or maybe seven. It's tough to tell, with the gruesome little guy's scarred face and creepy expressions.

There hasn't been a new Chucky movie since 2004's comic "Seed of Chucky," and now a new one, "Curse of Chucky," is on its way. But the sixth installment in the horror-movie franchise won't be coming to a theater near you. It'll be heading for a direct-to-video release.

The filmmakers issued a statement Wednesday noting that filming had begun in Winnipeg.

“Since his introduction to audiences in 'Child’s Play' almost a quarter-century ago, Chucky has haunted the nightmares of a generation of moviegoers,” said Glenn Ross, general manager and executive vice-president of the film's production company. “Returning to his roots in one of the most provocative horror franchises, this new sequel will shock longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike.”

The new film's plot involves a young girl who comforts herself with Chucky (seriously, how is that scary doll comforting to anyone?) who mysteriously arrived in the mail. Soon, a string of bloody murders begins, and to no one but the cast's surprise, Chucky is involved.

Should the 1980s-90s horror icon make a comeback, or should Chucky remain dead? Tell us on Facebook.
