A full-grown pit bull and a newborn kitten might seem like an unlikely pair, but don't tell Pittie and Kitty that. The two were rescued together last week on a Dallas roadside, and they've been inseparable ever since.

Well, almost inseparable.

According to the folks at Mercy Animal Clinic, Pittie was found nursing her tiny pal when they were picked up. But since the dog's own milk supply is drying up, Kitty now needs a bottle — and that means leaving her canine companion behind overnight.

Dr. Rick Hamlin told followers on Facebook that when he took the kitten home, the dog started howling. "I bet she'll be happy to see her tomorrow," he added.

That proved to be an understatement.

Pittie just can't get enough of her feline friend.

In fact, even though she's no longer nursing her kitten, Pittie still takes care of the motherly basics — including bath time.

And this sweet story already has a happy ending. While these furry friends haven't found their forever home yet, the clinic states they "will only be adopted together."
