On the 4th hour of TODAY, with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, animals are always an entertaining addition to the studio. A far cry from the typical pampered pooch segments, the Call of the Wild series features unique creatures that never fail to elicit interesting responses from Kathie Lee and Hoda.
This morning, San Diego Zoo ambassador Rick Schwartz brought a koala (among other animals such as a binturong, a rock hyrax and a parrot), with which Kathie Lee was just dying to cuddle. Can you blame her?
Aren't koala bears supposed to be soft and affectionate? Apparently not! "How precious!" said Kathie Lee and reached to pet him, only to be (lightly) scolded by Schwartz. Watch the video above to learn why koalas are not what you may imagine them to be.
