George the cat is an upright member of society.

The 8-month-old munchkin/exotic shorthair has been standing on two legs, and resting in that position, for his whole life, according to his owner, Andrew Park of Austin, Texas.

Park, 28, isn't sure what prompted George's unusual stance, but he, his wife Koa, 32, and their two daughters, Rhyan Patterson, 15, and Andyn Park, 3, enjoy the quirky feline's antics.

"He is a cat, so it's difficult to judge his motivations. He kind of just does what he wants," Park told TODAY.com. "Sometimes it is because he hears something, sometimes he does it to scope out an area and sometimes it just seems like he feels a bit suspicious of his surroundings. It really is hilarious."

Park added that George is a "total sweetheart."

"He loves cuddling and being held like a baby. He is also a big-time creature of habit. He wakes me up every morning between 6:45 and 7 a.m., lays on my chest and meows until he gets pet."

George is fast becoming a social-media star, racking up more than 22,000 Instagram followers since his account was created Wednesday.

Park, who has also set up a Facebook page and YouTube channel for George, says his family is "very happy that we get to share our wonderful little guy with so many other people."

In fact, George has already prompted some amusing reactions from the Internet.

"The one that really got me laughing off the bat was the comparisons to Wilford Brimley," Park said. "Others have called him Nick Offerman and Garfield."
