A dozen panda cubs made their debut in the research base of the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Centre. The 12 panda babies were born in 2011 from eight different litters.
The Chengdu base started in 1987 with only four pandas but now boasts 108.
China is holding its once-a-decade panda census this year to determine how many are living in the wild, their living conditions, ages and any change in habitat.
The count a decade ago found 1596 pandas left in the wild in China, with most living in Sichuan province.
