Tyler Perry is thrilled about becoming a dad for the first time, but the actor-writer-director isn't quite as excited about the prospect of watching his baby come into the world.

Perry stopped by TODAY Tuesday and told pal Tamron Hall that he's happy to go to Lamaze classes with girlfriend Gelila Bekele, but as for joining her in the delivery room? "I don't know," he said. "You got to pray for me on that! I don't know."

While the man behind the "Madea" film franchise didn't reveal when his little one is expected to arrive, he did explain that he's already made changes to his busy schedule to prepare.

"I've slowed down on film for a while," he said. "I'm just working on television, which allows me time to be home and slow things down — which is very important right now."

But film fans will have one more chance to see him on the big screen before the baby arrives. Perry stars in the highly anticipated mystery "Gone Girl," which opens in theaters nationwide Oct. 3.
