TODAY Moms caught up with Amy Chua, the now-famous (or infamous, depending on your perspective) "Tiger Mother" who wrote the book, literally, on strict parenting. She answers more questions about her "no playdates, no TV, no sports, no sleepovers, no grades below A, no arguing" parenting philosophy.
One surprisingly non-judgmental quote from her interview: "Show me a kid who is confident, and strong, and happy and self-reliant, and I think basically you've got good parenting, Western or Eastern, strict or not strict." Of course then she immediately starts talking about how her so-called "Chinese mother" approach is better than instilling self-esteem than the "more coddling" Western approach. I guess a tiger can't change its stripes....
