The best of times and the worst of times can be the same times in quarantine, according to Ryan Reynolds.
When the actor and father of three spoke with Hoda Kotb on TODAY Friday, he reflected on life in lockdown.
“You know, it's tough, because I am not living paycheck to paycheck, like so many people across the country are and the world (are),” he considered before weighing his own fortunate-by-comparison experience. “But the best I would say is the time spending with family, with my kids, having an incredibly concentrated amount of time with them during a period in their lives that I'll never get back.”
Reynolds, who hunkered down with wife Blake Lively and their daughters, James, 5, Inez, 4, and their youngest daughter, 1, during quarantine, then gave some thought to the biggest downside of being cooped up and said, “If I'm to pick the worst thing, it's probably the incredibly concentrated amount of time I've had with my kids in a time that I'll never get back, so … being totally frank here.”
Of course, maybe he’s being a little tongue-in-cheek about it, too (or maybe not). In a recent interview with ET, he confessed that there's one member of the family who he just can't get enough of lately.
""I have a new baby. She's a little over a year now, so I really like hanging out with her, ‘cause it's fun watching her grow up," he said.
The truth is, the 44-year-old “girl dad” has been able to share some truly special experiences with all of his kids lately, including a private viewing of his new movie.
Reynolds reprised his voice role as Guy for the sequel to the 2013 animated adventure “The Croods,” and he shared exactly what his trio of daughters thought of “The Croods: A New Age.”
“My kids went absolutely bananas for it,” he said. “They're still running around the house making Belt sounds, my sidekick (played by Chris Sanders), and going ‘Bam, bam, bam, whenever something scary happens.”

That’s not the only movie coming up for the star. Reynolds actually expanded his quarantine bubble as he worked with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
“Yeah, we had a little quarantine. It was more for his sake than mine, really. You know, he can't live without me,” he joked.
But when it came to pandemic precautions that were taken on set, that was nothing to joke about.
“The film I just finished for Netflix, ‘Red Notice,’ the one I was working on with the Rock, we were tested (for coronavirus) five days a week. So there was a time I didn't even want oxygen going up my nose by the time the weekend hit!”
