We’re adding Rosie Pope to our TODAY Moms list of cool-mamas-we-want-a-playdate-with.
Why?
Yes, like everyone else, we're fascinated by the "Pregnant in Heels" star’s British-ish accent that’s so amusing Saturday Night Live parodied it. (Pope told us before that she even has to repeat things to her husband of 7 years, because he can’t understand her.)
And we love the sassy way she deals with all the wacky, well-heeled NYC clients who seek her pregnancy guru/fashion designer/maternity concierge services.
But most of all, we like Pope because she makes us laugh about things that we moms SO relate to.
We caught up with her after her TODAY appearance this morning, and she gave us plenty to giggle about.
On whether dealing with high maintenance women has made her a more laid back or more crazy mom:
“I think they’ve given me a license to be crazier because they are so crazy,” she says. Proof: When her first son was an infant, she accidentally whacked his head on the stroller bar of his car seat while taking him out. She wanted to be able to tell the pediatrician how hard he hit it, so she whacked her own head on the bar, too. The pediatrician later said: “Your son is fine. But are you ok?”
On what’s the craziest thing a client has requested of her:
“One of my first clients wanted me to design a couture gown for the delivery room. She actually wanted to give birth in it.”
On most/least favorite baby names:
Most fave (obviously): James and Wellington (her boys, who go by J.R. and Wells.)
Least fave? “Anything with a number in it,” she says, adding “I don’t want to name names.” (Meow! Posh, you hear that?)
