Taking its name from the practice of curtailing college athletes’ participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility, "redshirting" has become a popular option for parents of kindergarten-age kids, but opinions are divided as to whether it's the right thing to do. The New York Timesexamined this phenomenon in depth in a story over the weekend, and it's clearly not a topic that all parents are seeing eye-to-eye on.
