Happy birthday, Prince George! The royal toddler's cutest moments from the past year

Prince George celebrated his second birthday Wednesday, and it's hard to imagine anything terrible about this two-year-old.

It’s hard to imagine anything terrible about this 2 year old!

Prince George celebrated his second birthday Wednesday, reclaiming the spotlight he’s had to share recently with newborn sister, Charlotte.

Despite the latest addition to the popular British royal family, the public continues to clamor for details about the cherubic young toddler prince. And George, the third in line to the throne, continues to deliver.

Within the past few months alone, Prince George has appeared at a very public play date, showing off his fashion sense (including some navy Crocs that have since sent sales skyrocketing for similar footwear), and given the public ample opportunities to see him practicing that royal wave. And no other toddler can pull off the knee-high sock look better than Prince George.

So here’s a look back at the last year with this terrific 2 year old.

Say cheese!

Last December, George’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, released new images of their son in time for the holiday season. The photos of the cheeky young tot wearing a sweater vest and matching, pulled-up socks immediately charmed the world.

By George, he's a big brother!

The world eagerly awaited for the moment George became a big brother — and a glimpse of him as he went to the hospital on May 2 to see his new baby sister did not disappoint.

Carried in the arms of his father, Prince William, George emulated his dad and gave the large crowd of media and well-wishers a royal wave before disappearing behind the hospital doors.

Scene stealer

In June, Duchess Kate appeared at the annual Trooping the Colours parade, her first public event since the birth of her daughter. Yet, it was her son, Prince George, who stole the show with yet another wave.

He also delighted hard-core royal fans who noticed he wore the exact light blue shorts outfit worn more than three decades earlier by his father on the same Buckingham Palace balcony.

Earlier in the day, before making his formal appearance, an absolutely delighted Prince George was captured watching the festivities from inside the palace with his nanny.

A day later, Prince George dropped the formalities while playing in the grass with his mother, as his father played a charity polo match nearby. The young tyke could barely be bothered to keep his eye on the game, instead keeping his mother on her toes as he ran down grassy hills and played games with his distant cousins.

He also showed off how, like his mother, his style choices — in this case, a pair of Croc clogs — could send the fashion world into a frenzy.

The kiss

Weeks earlier, Prince George made headlines by planting a sweet kiss on his new sister's forehead in one of a series of photos released by Kensington Palace.

The photos of the siblings were taken in mid-May, barely weeks after Charlotte's birth, by Duchess Kate at Anmer Hall, the country home in Norfolk where the royal family have been living.

Charlotte's christening

It was his little sister's big day, but Prince George again nearly stole the show at her christening, where he appeared in a crisp white shirt with a butterfly collar and red embroidered flair that matched his scarlet shorts.

He showed off his curiosity by peering inside his sister's pram, and also could be seen giving the crowd a glare for making such a fuss at him.

Later in the week, the Duke and Duchess released photos from that day taken by celebrity photographer Mario Testino. The pictures included a formal family portrait, but it was the more relaxed ones showing Prince George with his family that melted everyone’s hearts. Again.
