She has a new film on the way, several in post-production and a happy life at home with husband Keith Urban and their two daughters. But amid all that joy and success, Nicole Kidman is going through a very difficult time.

Just last month, her father, Dr. Antony Kidman, died of a heart attack, and the loss has left the Oscar-winning actress grieving for the parent she was so close to.

Kidman recently sat down with TODAY's Maria Shriver and discussed her grief, where she finds her solace and more.

  • On the coping with the loss of her father: "It's a devastating thing for my family and myself right now."

  • On how her husband, Keith Urban, reminds her of her father: "[By] being a good man and choosing to protect his family and take care of himself and his kids. And walk the walk, if that makes sense, not just talk the talk."

  • On whether she relies on faith or her spouse for support during the hard times:  "I do both. That would be me right now, and I'm lucky to have a rock of a husband and a strong faith. I have both those things."

  • On finding a kind happiness she never imagined with Urban, daughters and life in Nashville: "[It happened] in a huge way. And I love saying that, because I think for anyone that's in pain now or hurting, it's always good to hear other stories of people that go, 'It's going to be OK.'"

See more from Kidman when her new psychological thriller, "Before I Go to Sleep," hits theaters nationwide Friday.
