Nicole Kidman is an Academy Award-winner who’s translated her big screen success into a string of Emmy-winning small screen hits over the past few years and has even expanded her roles by founding a production company and serving an executive producer on her own projects.

She’s also happily married to country crooner Keith Urban, with whom she shares two children, and she’s the mother of two more from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.

But still, there’s something lacking for the 54-year-old star. It’s not that she wishes for more work or accolades — Kidman would have like to have had a bigger family.

“I wish I’d had more children, but I wasn’t given that choice,” she said in an interview for Marie Claire Australia’s 25th birthday Issue.

Considering it one of her biggest regrets of the past 25 years, she added, “I would’ve loved 10 kids.”

However, Kidman isn’t mourning what could have been. Instead, she’s celebrating the maternal role she has in the lives of others.

“(It’s) OK because I get to mother other children,” she explained. “I have six nieces and nephew, and I’m godmother to 12. I love mothering, I love kids: they’re quirky, funny and unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way.”

This isn’t the first time the “Nine Perfect Strangers” star has spoken of her wish for a bigger brood.

In a 2019 interview with People magazine, she said that she and Urban, who wed in 2016, often wish they’d met sooner so they could’ve had an early start on building their family together.

"We go, 'Oh, gosh, I wonder if we met when we were 25, then we could’ve had 10 of them!'" Kidman said.

And she went on to reveal how her husband keeps her from dwelling on those thoughts.

"Keith says, 'Stop the wanting mind,'" she shared. "It’s far better to be completely in love and satiated with what you’ve been given, what we’ve been given."
