Neil Patrick Harris really seems to be taking the title of his new TV show, "Best Time Ever," seriously — especially when it comes to family fun with his adorable twins, Harper and Gideon.

Just last week, Harris posted a video of the two tykes animatedly belting out tunes over breakfast. And Monday night, the proud father took to Instagram to show off an awesome pair of cakes he and husband David Burtka made for the twins' 5th birthday yesterday.

"Happy 5th birthday to Gideon and Harper, the two greatest kids in all the land! (Cakes created and decorated by their fathers)," Harris wrote alongside the first image of the colorfully decorated confections.

The next two images Harris posted are detail shots of the figurines that adorn the cake, which he explains are "droids fighting princesses."

"The droids were mostly winning, but princesses have gumption," Harris revealed in the third photo's caption.

Of course, we'd expect nothing less from the devoted dad, who told TODAY.com that the twins recently started their second year of preschool.

"I'm just such a fan of them learning cool, clever things, whether it be fish in a fish tank and how they work, or letters, or building things ... it's really fun for me," Harris said. "I forget how many things they're supposed to learn."

He added that the twins give him energy after long hours filming his new variety show.

"They kinda fill me back up," he said. "The kids are at a wonderful age where they want to hug and sit on your lap and show you things, and make stuff together."
