NBC correspondent Richard Engel delivered some breaking news Tuesday on Twitter: He's a new dad!

The journalist tweeted Tuesday afternoon that he and Mary Forrest, a freelance producer he married in late May, "couldn't be happier to welcome our baby boy." Engel added that Forrest and the baby — later referenced by Engel's NBC News colleague Andrea Mitchell as "Henry" — were "both well."

In his tweet, Engel concluded he was "so excited for his, and our, adventure."

Their baby boy is the latest prize the chief foreign correspondent got to take home this week: On Monday, he and his NBC Nightly News colleagues won news Emmy Awards in breaking-news and hard-news categories.

Many of Engel's nearly 190,000 Twitter followers showered his family with support, including "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd, ESPN sportscaster Karl Ravech, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and actress Patty Duke.
