Alex recommended that Amanda get better quality chalk to improve her drawings instead of continuing to use her children's tools. After a trip to an arts and crafts store, they got back to their home in Frederick, Maryland, and Amanda got to work.

Her creations were so great that her proud husband decided to post some to Reddit. The rest is history.

"We were all blown away at the response her drawings got online," Alex said. "It has helped her start to look at it as more than just a hobby."

Amanda started receiving requests not only from neighbors, but also from strangers on the Internet asking her to draw their favorite characters, such as the Ninja Turtles and Elsa and Anna from "Frozen." She even a car from the movie "Cars" in honor of the first birthday of a neighbor's child.

Amanda's children — Autumn, 3, and Aaron, 1 — can't get enough of her work. Even at their young ages, they know to leave her alone while she's drawing. Each work takes around 90 minutes to complete.
