As Joan Watson on "Elementary," Lucy Liu is investigating all kinds of mysteries every week.

But 68 days ago she found herself enmeshed in a whole new world of exciting mystery when her son Rockwell was born, as she told TODAY during a visit Tuesday.

"Every day is just a miracle and a dream," the 46-year-old actress said of life since his birth. "Because everything is so different every day. You're not even thinking about 'Is it Monday or Tuesday?' or 'What time it is?' any more, you're just thinking about how he's changed from minute to minute and his reactions — also how you are and how you grow as a human being, being around another human being, like that."

Aw, it must be love. So will Rockwell (who was born via gestational surrogate on Aug. 27) become "Rocky" for short?

"I hope not!" she laughed.

"Elementary" returns to CBS on Nov. 5 at 10 p.m. ET.
