Cassidy Gifford was on her way to film her next movie when news broke about her father’s death, Kathie Lee revealed Friday.
“The hardest part of the day, other than finding Frank, was that we couldn’t get in touch with Cass because she was in the air,” she said.
Football Hall of Famer and former New York Giants star Frank Gifford passed away on Aug. 9, hours after his daughter had left on a flight to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to start filming her sixth film and “her best role yet,” Kathie Lee said.
The family called Delta airlines asking for help to track Cassidy down in Minnesota, where she had a connecting flight. A friendly representative promised to have “the nicest person we have working in St. Paul” to find Cassidy and have her call home immediately.
“The worst thing you want to do is ever get news like that from a monitor when you're walking, wherever you are,” Kathie Lee said. “That’s where Cass was on her way to, but we got her home."
The day after her father died, Cassidy posted a photo of herself with her father and a sweet tribute.
“You were an unparalleled Giant in all sense of the word, Dad.”
