When new parents John Legend and Chrissy Teigen went out for dinner last month, only one of them was criticized.

John Legend is all about equal rights as a parent. The new dad to baby Luna has come out to tell all critics that if they're going to shame his baby's mother, Chrissy Teigen, they need to put blame on him, too.

Not that he thinks anyone should be blamed at all. But Teigen was specifically called out on social media by fans implying she was a bad mother for leaving her newborn at home while she and Legend went out to dinner in late April.

Legend's having none of that. As he notes in a new tweet:

He makes a great point, and fans are supporting his stance:

Teigen did some pretty good standing up for herself at the time, posting screen shots of some of the comments she got:

Legend's response to the Momsplaining Dinnergate comes on the heels of a "The Daily Show" segment which used his and Teigen's public "shaming" to make a pointed joke.

Noted Desi Lydic in the sketch from earlier this week, "You’re worried about the quality of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's child care? It’s not like they’re getting their nanny off Craigslist. They’re rich celebrities. They could get Mary Poppins to watch their baby, as in literally call Julie Andrews, get her to come out of retirement to babysit in character as Mary Poppins."

Tongue firmly in cheek, Legend tweeted that they only had limited access to the legendary flying nanny:

No wonder he's a Legend.
