It's Willow Smith's world ... We just live in it

You may remember an innocent little entry we posted here on TODAY Moms a while back when Willow Smith’s single, “I Whip My Hair” was first leaked. Like the concerned parents we are, we asked readers if they thought that Miss Smith, at the tender age of 9, was too young for the limelight and whether she’d be able to handle the pressures and adulation of stardom. This was all, of course, before hearing her speak and seeing the official video for “I Whip My Hair.” Now, of course, the question isn’t whether Willow is ready for showbiz, it’s whether showbiz is ready for Willow.

In the ensuing weeks, the pint-sized powerhouse has made her presence felt and is showing zero signs of slowing down anytime soon. A telling example of this little girl’s ambition came when MTV News asked her yesterday what she was planning to be for Halloween. “I’m gonna be myself,” Smith explained, “and I’m going go around the neighborhood saying ‘Do you like Willow Smith?’ And then I’m gonna be like, ‘Ta-da! It’s me!’” Make no mistake. Willow is here to stay.

Of course, there are no greater indicators of Smith’s impact on popular culture than the sheer volume of parody videos that spoof her nigh-on-ubiquitous “Whip My Hair” currently making the rounds on YouTube (“Cool Whip My Hair” anyone?) That said, even if you can’t get enough of the original, after long hours of research, we can happily attest that the below version remains the TODAY Moms favorite. Crank it up.
