Get your wallets out: Holiday toy season is here

Toys R Us released their slavishly anticipated “hot toy” list earlier this week, ushering in the inevitable sprint towards the holiday season. Given the pressure on the toy industry to capitalize on the holiday season (even during an iffy economy), this season’s crop of coveted playthings puts the accent on cute, invariably hoping to mimic or, preferably, eclipse the success last year of the Zhu Zhu Pets. You can find an illustrated breakdown of the some of the toys that made the list by clicking right here (and maybe be prepared to make a few notes), but Kathie Lee and Hoda got their hands on some of Mattel’s big contenders this year, the Sing-A-Ma-Jigs, which are plush little characters that sing when their bellies are squeezed.
