Crib notes: Pregnant pop stars, tweeting tweens & more

One thing that’s reassuring about working on a blog devoted to parenting is that there’s absolutely never a shortage of material floating across the Net. From anecdotal blog entries through oddball news stories, there’s always something pertaining to child-rearing and child-wrangling going on out there. Here are a few that caught our attention today. The office was unsurprisingly aflutter this morning in the wake of the Masche family appearance on TODAY, wherein the arguably cherubic sextuplets transformed Natalie Morales’ interview into a pint-sized mosh pit (or should that be Masche pit?). As was amply evidenced, 3-year-olds can be unpredictable. If that segment didn’t entirely convince you of same, here’s another fine example. Cringe along with us as Prarie Pundit shares the story of his unashamedly candid 3-year-old. Never has the seemingly innocent question, “are you a pirate?” been so awkward. In the world of celebrity, Jennifer Aniston confessed yesterday that she’s not actually feeling any pressure to get procreating, despite the media’s tireless scrutiny of her love life and her latest role in “The Switch” as an unmarried woman in her 40s desperate to have a baby. “I’m not freaking out about that,” she says. Fair enough. Here’s an idea: Why don’t we collectively give the woman a break and stop worrying about it? We’re pretty sure she’d agree One celebrity who is beaming with that mom-to-be glow is formerly angsty Canadian songbird, Alanis Morissette. The woman behind such 90’s radio staples as “You Oughta Know” and “Ironic” wed rapper Mario Treadway, 30, this past May. Of her pregnancy, Morissette said, “We’re very excited to embark on this journey with each other.” Awww. Ideally, she won’t follow a regrettably common celeb route and bestow a cloyingly promotional baby name on her child. In one last bit of celebrity news, it seems MSNBC’s own Mika Brezinski has been having a spot of trouble with her 12-year-old daughter, Carlie. Evidently, Carlie got access to Mika’s Twitter account and tweeted an impassioned query. That query? “Can anyone help my daughter meet Justin Beiber?” Not all parenting crises involve mop-headed pop stars, of course. A fine example of same comes courtesy of Maranda from the blog, You & Me and Baby Makes Three. Apparently, her little infant, Daisy, isn’t sleeping at night, refuses to nap during the day and is behaving fussily at all points in between. Is it teething or is she just being crabby? Lastly, Lisa Belkin over at The New York Times’ parenting blog, Motherlode, addresses another vexing predicament that many moms are facing, that being instances in which the mother is mistaken for the nanny. Awkward!! What about you? Spotted anything noteworthy on the Web that you’d like to share with TODAY Moms? Let us know in the comments below.
