The couple who made a viral video about their wish to be adoptive parents now have a baby!
Joe Morales and Joey Famoso created a love song for their “Dear Future Baby” earlier this year, set to the tune of Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband”; this week they announced that the video actually connected them to the birth mother of their now adopted son, Jackson Rudy.
The couple announced the addition to their family on their Joe and Joey Adopt Facebook page, with Morales saying, “Joey and I are incredibly honored and humbled to welcome our son, Jackson Rudy to the world! Life as we know it has changed and I'm happy to say that it's all for the better…we are so grateful that our son found us.”
The announcement included a video introducing Jackson to supporters. In keeping with their original video, the couple sings a few bars about the adoption to the tune of the Trainor hit.
“Meet our new baby/ Thank you all for joining in our journey/ We feel so blessed to have this perfect gift of life,” the Minneapolis duo croons.
Morales says he and Famoso are adjusting well to being dads, adding that the joys of fatherhood have already far surpassed their wildest expectations. While the couple has chosen not to reveal the identity of the birth mother or the exact age of the baby, Morales says Jackson is a few weeks old and the three of them are adjusting well to life together as a family.
“We never knew that something so small could embody so much of everything that is good and right in the world. When we look at him, we see endless possibilities for both him and us as a family. He is already holding his own pacifier, so (the) next step is admission to Harvard,” Morales told TODAY Parents.
So how did the dads choose the name for their son?
“The name Jackson has several meanings for us, but we were really drawn to the meaning behind the name, which is ‘God has shown favor.’ For us, he certainly has blessed us beyond measure,” said Morales.
Morales says he and Famoso are still overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they received from local, national and international fans.
After going through a failed adoption attempt late last year and feeling the anticipation and excitement associated with Jackson’s adoption, the couple say they plan to give back to the community that supported them by starting the Dear Future Baby Foundation (DFBF) within the next few months.
“Our own adoption process has been equal parts exciting, scary, stressful and amazing. Even with all that, we stand here today and say it was all worth it. The DFBF will focus on providing financial and emotional support and assistance to families waiting to adopt and who may have experienced the emotional and financial unease associated with unsuccessful adoptions,” said Morales.
As they settle in as a family of three, Morales says he and Famoso are completely smitten with little Jackson and are loving every minute of their time as new fathers.
“The hardest part for us is deciding who gets to hold and kiss him first. Oh, and of course an hour or two of extra sleep wouldn’t hurt.”
