It’s a super day for the Reeve family.
Alexandra Reeve Givens, daughter of the late "Superman" actor Christopher Reeve, has welcomed her first child. Christopher Russel Reeve Givens was born June 13 in Washington, D.C. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces.
“He was named after his grandfathers on each side," a family representative told People magazine. “The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home."
Alexandra, 31, is the daughter of Reeve and Gae Exton. She works as a lawyer in the U.S. Senate and as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School. She met her husband, Garren Givens, 33, while both were studying at Yale University.
Her father, Christopher Reeve, was paralyzed during an equestrian competition in 1995. He and his wife created the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury. Christopher Reeve died on October 10, 2004, at the age of 52.
