Some young ladies, in dedicating a song and dance to their dearly departed father, might go for the sentimental and sweet. Bindi Irwin is not that type of woman — and we love her for it!
On Monday's "Dancing With the Stars," Irwin 'fessed up to being a heavy metal fan to dance partner Derek Hough, and said she learned it from her parents.
"That's what my mom and dad, especially, would listen to," she said before her dance. "I was so little and so happy."
Which is how she ended up doing a tango with Hough to AC/DC's 1980 hit "You Shook Me All Night Long," which was one of her father's favorite tunes.
With her mom Terri in the audience welling up, Irwin said, "I remember when I was really little, dad would sing that song."
And the judges must have felt that nostalgic enthusiasm: She earned a 25 out of 30 score.
Irwin told People later, "At the very end it hit me, because of the meaning behind the song. It was so great because that they [had] so many memories attached [to it]."
And in honor of Steve, here's the original tune!
