Is there anything cuter than a baby? Sleeping babies, laughing babies — even crying babies — get us every time, and they have been for as long as we can remember. From Anne Geddes way back when to your own Instagram feeds today, it’s clear that our appetite for roly-poly legs, toothless grins and chubby feet is insatiable.
The latest babe to corner the viral photo market is little Signhild Nyström of Umeå, Sweden. Now 2 years old, Signhild is the subject of her advertising photographer dad Emil’s hilariously adorable photo series, in which she’s depicted doing everything from working on a car to hanging from a kitchen shelf — in all her diapered glory. With a little help (OK, a lot of help) from Photoshop, Emil has been able to create laugh-out-loud scenarios, each with blue-eyed Signhild holding court.
“The first picture I took was when I tested out some new gear,” Emil, 26, told TODAY. “Signhild was my test subject and she did a funny face and held her hands in a weird way, and I loaded the pictures on my computer and did some editing in Photoshop. Since then I’ve been giving my crazy ideas life in photos.”
So, was Signhild a cooperative subject? “[She was] pretty much always happy,” Emil said. “At least when she was younger. It’s quite easy with your own children because you know what makes them laugh. Now that she’s older, I have to work a little bit harder.”
And now that seven-months-old Hilma has joined the family, Emil has another Gerber-esque baby model. “I love my children [and] I love making pictures and using Photoshop,” Emil explained. “I’m blessed to be doing this as a part of my job.”
