Posed against that milky blue background, hair untamed by plastic comb, forced smile on your face -- the awkward school portrait is a time-honored tradition. The good people at Awkward Family Photos helped us assemble this glorious slideshow of awkward school photos that may take you back to your own school days -- even the ones you'd rather forget. These photos were all submitted by adults who can now look back and laugh at their adorkable photos. They make me want to time-travel back to the '80s and give them all a hug... and maybe tell myself not to get that perm.

It also made us wonder: As moms, what do you do about awkward school photos? Of course, all our children are gorgeous. That's a given. But sometimes photographers inexplicably fail to capture their beauty and charm. When your kid gets an awkward school photo, what do you do? Frame it and send it to the grandparents anyway? Quietly "lose" the order form? Or tuck the photos away in the "blackmail material for when they're in college" file? (Don't tell me I'm the only one with that file.)
