Amy Schumer’s son, Gene, has a new word to add to his vocabulary: Dad!

The 39-year-old comedian shared an adorable video of her 16-month-old son sitting in his high chair to send to her husband, chef Chris Fischer.

Schumer kicks off the video, telling the camera, “We just wanted to say 'Hi, Daddy. We miss you. We hope you’re having a fun day.' Can you say 'Dad'?"

Gene pauses for a second before squealing “Dad!” — seemingly for the first time.

After Gene makes his big announcement, Schumer and her friends begin to cheer and celebrate the important moment. Unfortunately, Gene had a slightly different reaction. He almost immediately burst into tears, effectively ending the clip.

“This video was clearly a surprise to us,” the mother of one captioned the adorably botched video. “Getting to experience these first moments with my son makes me feel so lucky."

Recently, Schumer was able to catch on camera another sweet moment of little Gene. Last month, she shared a video of her son playing at his toy kitchen set when he said “mom” for the first time.

“The world is burning but this was a nice moment,” she wrote alongside it.

The actor had a tough pregnancy with Gene, enduring hyperemesis gravidarum, a debilitating form of morning sickness, throughout her pregnancy.

In an interview with TODAY's Willie Geist in August, Schumer said she and Fischer want to have more kids, but the pandemic has put plans on hold.

“I decided that I can’t be pregnant ever again,” she said. “We thought about a surrogate, but I think we’re going to hold off for right now.”

She'd previously told TODAY Parents in July that she's exploring surrogacy as a path to another child, in part, because there's a 90% chance she'd develop HG a second time.

“I mean, it’s something that I can’t imagine putting myself through again, but it’s also something I can’t imagine not putting myself through,” Schumer said at the time. “It’s so confusing.”

Despite the rough road to giving birth, it was all worth it to have Gene in her life, of course.

"Oh man. I mean, come on, he's just — life is so much more beautiful," she told Willie. "It's been the best thing in my life."
