13 reasons to let dads do things their way

To all the moms out there: We dads know you may cringe when we put your child in an outfit that looks as if he raided Steven Tyler’s or Steve Urkel’s closets. To all the moms out there: We dads know you may cringe when we put your child in an outfit that looks as if he raided Steven Tyler’s or Steve Urkel’s closets. Or maybe our attempts at styling hair resemble a squirrel’s tail instead of something that's attached to the backside of a pony.

I’m here to tell you that none of it matters. In Daddy Doin’ Work: Empowering Mothers To Evolve Fatherhood, I've written a book for moms about dads. The book covers a lot of topics, but a main point is that moms need to encourage the great dads of the world to express themselves in their own unique fashion.

For moms who constantly nitpick your man for how he raises his kids, I ask you a simple question: Are the kids safe and happy?

And if the answer is yes, then it’s time to let him do his daddy thing in his own daddy way. He may not do everything just like you do, but he loves fatherhood and is motivated to be the best man he can be for his children. At the end of the day, the dude is creating memories that his kids will cherish forever, and what’s better than that?

So, moms, here are 13 times to let dads be dads. While you may not take part in some of the behaviors shown here, you shouldn’t think this behavior is wrong. It’s just different, that’s all.
