Social media has been changing the way we communicate, share information and get our news. Now, new research suggests it may be changing something else — the way we look at beauty.

A new short film called "Selfie," released by Dove at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, set out to look at how social media affects the way we perceive beauty. 

According to research conducted by Dove, 63% of women feel social media is influencing today’s definition of beauty more than print media, movies, and music.

When you search for the word "beauty" on the web, you get what you might expect — models, cover girls and polished photos. But when you search "#beauty" on Instagram, the results are quite different, returning everyday people, selfies and realistic expectations.
