Blake Fielder-Civil, husband of British singer Amy Winehouse, was released from prison on Wednesday after spending about a year behind bars for attacking a pub landlord in 2006 and then trying to cover it up.

The former video assistant, who married Winehouse in Miami in 2007, was sentenced to 27 months in prison in July.

Lawyers explained at the time that he would have to serve about half that time, and had already been in jail for nine months when the sentence was passed.

A record industry source said he understood Fielder-Civil would have to check straight into a rehabilitation clinic under the terms of his release.

Fielder-Civil’s lawyer told a court in July that his client was addicted to drugs and was determined to recover.

Winehouse is behind the hit album “Back to Black” and landed five Grammy awards earlier in the year, but her career has been overshadowed by a battle against drug addiction and bouts of illness.
