Prince Harry has a cute smile and a twinkle in his eye. He looks really good in a uniform.
And he just so happens to be a prince.
Although it’s his big brother Prince William who is getting most of the press attention these days — thanks to his adorable newborn son Prince George — we shouldn't discount the appeal of younger brother Prince Harry, who turns 29 this weekend – especially since he’s the one who’s still on the market.
There’s just a certain irresistible something about those royal younger brothers. Like his uncle Prince Andrew, Harry has a zest for life – and a mischievous grin to go with it. But he can also be serious, like when he talks about how much he loved his late mother Princess Diana. Harry’s also a loyal friend. When his friend Henry van Straubenzee was killed in a car crash in Uganda while doing charity work there, Harry immediately volunteered to be a patron for a charity created in his late classmate’s name. A guy who can be soft and tough? Sign me up.
Sure, Harry’s been in some compromising situations — we all remember those scandalous pictures from his trip to Las Vegas. But rather than discounting him from potential relationship material, those wild days only make me like him more. What fun is it to tame a guy who’s already tame? The appeal of the bad boy lies in knowing he could be causing trouble, but he chooses not to. It’s that under layer of mystery that makes him totally crush-worthy.
Prince Harry also has great senses of humor and whimsy. He’s not afraid to tease his big brother, even on live TV. And when he, William, and Kate went to visit the Harry Potter Studio in London, it was clear that Harry (the prince) was right at home casting spells.
And doesn’t he look adorable holding a baby for a photo op? My heart melted earlier this week when Harry told a group of kids that he had just seen his nephew Prince George smile for the first time.
As a kid, I would have thought that Harry was totally unattainable — he’s a British royal, I’m an American commoner. But thanks to Kate Middleton, the doors are wide open for a girl with no title to waltz on in to Buckingham Palace. Don’t you think she’d like to have a sister-in-law to hang out with (and hopefully share clothes with)? And Harry’s now 29, the same age as William when he got hitched. It certainly would be nice symmetry if Harry chose this year to settle down too.
