When it comes to Japanese food this summer, go beyond sushi. Michael Schulson, executive chef of the Asian fusion restaurant Buddakan in New York, has some tasty Japanese treats that are grilled to perfection. On the menu: Izakaya robatiyaki with miso butter sauce or yakitori sauce.
About the chef: Michael Schulson began honing in on his culinary skills at a young age, watching his mother and grandmother in the kitchen. After working in top kitchens, Schulson recently became the executive chef of Buddakan in New York City and in June 2008 opened Izakaya, a modern Japanese pub.
