So Savannah decided to honor her mom with something more than flowers this year: a listicle entitled "23 lessons my mom taught me about raising a child."

2. Registered nurse Linda Mochel works night shifts at a South Bend, Ind., hospital so she can stay home during the day to take care of her children. But four of her 10 kids, who range in age from 10 to 31, live out of state, and she doesn't get to see them very often.

So when TODAY sprang a surprise on her at work as part of the show's week-long "Mom's the Word" celebration — gathering all 10 of her children and her two grandkids to wish her a happy Mother's Day, as well as giving her a new car — Linda was tearful. "I'm shocked," she said, before telling her kids and grandkids, "I love you guys with all my heart."

3. The parents of a Colorado woman rescued after being trapped in her wrecked car for six days are grateful for a pair of good Samaritans who found her before it was too late.

"We saw them on TV tonight and my heart just palpitated that I can tell him, 'Thank you for saving my baby,''' Kristin Hopkins' mother, Connie Morgan, told TODAY Wednesday.

4. Hours after the White House released a report on climate change Tuesday, President Obama stressed the urgency of the issue to TODAY's Al Roker.

"This is a problem that is affecting Americans right now," Obama said. "Whether it means increased flooding, greater vulnerability to drought, more severe wildfires — all these things are having an impact on Americans as we speak."

5. “It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress,” Monica Lewinsky, now 40, writes in Vanity Fair about her affair with President Bill Clinton. In it she describes the long-lasting impact the scandal has had on her life, such as her struggle to convince potential employers that she won’t be a liability because of her name recognition.

In TODAY’s Take Wednesday, Tamron Hall noted the irony of “how this has played out in history: Bill Clinton at his most popular right now, and Monica Lewinsky unable to get a job.”

Willie Geist and Natalie Morales also expressed sympathy for Lewinsky. "Bill Clinton paid, in real time, paid a price. There was an impeachment vote," Willie pointed out. "But in the long term, clearly she’s paid the higher price."
