TODAY's Takeaway: Kate Gosselin's kids go silent, Olympian gives up spot for twin

Kate Gosselin's twins say they miss life on reality TV, Sam Champion kicked off his new role at the Weather Channel, and Biathlete Tracy Barnes talked about giving up her Olympic spot for her twin sister.

1. Biathlete Tracy Barnes won't be heading to the Sochi Olympics this year, even though she made Team USA. Instead, she gave up her spot so her twin sister Lanny could compete in her place. “She's having a great year, and I think when you care enough about someone you're willing to make that kind of sacrifice,’’ Tracy told TODAY.

2. It's been a long time since Kate Gosselin and her brood were in the spotlight, but Gosselin twins Cara and Mady have recently been more outspoken about their lives, saying that they're normal teens who haven't been hurt by the reality TV spotlight.

But when they stopped by TODAY to talk to Savannah, the girls clammed up — making for an awkward interview as Kate tried to get them to "spit it out."
