“There was a point that I stopped crying,’’ Smart says in a Meredith Vieira Special that will air at 10 p.m. EST Friday on NBC. “It’s not just because I didn’t feel pain any more, not because I didn’t feel sorrow. It was just to keep going. I mean, it just was to survive, to live.”
2. One good turn deserves another: A homeless man who became a hero in his hometown of Boston after turning in a backpack full of $40,000 is benefiting from another good deed, one that he inspired.
“I noticed a lot of hundred-dollar bills, and I said ‘Oh my goodness, this has to get back to its rightful owner,’” Glen James recalled to NBC’s Kerry Sanders.
Now, an online campaign has raised more than $148,000 to repay James for his kindness!
