TODAY calls for couples to 'Race to the Altar'

This year, five finalist couples will be selected to compete in a series of fun, competitive challenges and it will be up to TODAY viewers to vote for the winning couple.

Wedding bells will be be ringing on Rockefeller Plaza — again.  TODAY announced plans for their 9th annual "TODAY Throws a Wedding" series, with a reality show theme of "Race to the Altar."

Five finalist couples will be selected to compete in a series of fun, competitive challenges and it will be up to TODAY viewers to vote for the winning couple. The lucky couples will to duke it out for the grand prize — the chance to win the hearts of viewers across the country and tie the knot on America's #1 morning show. 

The winning couple's nuptials will then be swiftly planned by viewers for a June 25th wedding event live on TODAY.

Last year's "TODAY Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding" celebrated the nuptials of Jessica and Cody with the presence of tastemaker Martha Stewart.  Hundreds of thousands of viewers logged on to TODAYShow.com to vote for the couple's wedding features. On October 5, 2007, the two wed before millions of TV viewers and then celebrated with a lavish event held at Tiffany & Co.

Couples are encouraged to mail in a one-minute video explaining why they are the perfect couple. Five standout couples will be picked and following tradition, TODAY viewers will plan the winning finalists' wedding by voting on TODAYShow.com for the couple's rings, the wedding gown, the tux, the attendants' attire, the cake, and the honeymoon.
