Society photographer Hugo Burnand has been chosen to take the official pictures of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the London Evening Standard reported on Wednesday.

Burnand, who took the official photo of William's father Prince Charles to mark his 60th birthday, was selected to document the royal marriage on April 29 ahead of celebrity photographer Mario Testino.

Testino had taken official snaps of the couple when they announced their engagement last year.

A spokesman for William said he was unable to confirm the paper's report.

Burnand took up photography as a career in 1991, following a variety of jobs from horse-racing to insurance broking, the Standard said.

He was the official photographer for the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005.

His other subjects have included former President Bill Clinton, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher with her late husband, and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
